So, as I’m sure you can tell from the photo, I loooove ballet flats🥰 But having feet as big as I do (29cm) makes getting ones that are cute, well-fitting, and comfortable a challenge.

Assuming that some of you, my dear readers, may be having the same struggle, I wanted to share the best ones I’ve found so far, comparing in terms of fit, finish and, of course, comfort.

EBAY

I found three different large-size ballet flats makers on Ebay; but all of them seem to use the same supplier and have similar customer service experiences.

So my first stop in my quest for cute ballet flats was EBay. It took a bit of searching, but in the end, I did manage to find a few independent Chinese makers that carried shoes in my size. As they make each pair one at a time, it takes a few weeks to get them, (and it also took a few attempts to get the sizing right) but I was really happy with the ballet flats I got from users, rarezc849, smile369, and cro-5523. All of them seem to get their shoes from the same supplier.

As you can see, they have a wide variety of colors and you can choose between smooth leather or suede. Generally I prefer a 1/8inch heel to a 1/4, and I wish that they had piping around the edges of the vamp (as most ballet flats do) but overall, the leather is still soft and they are comfortable to wear over long periods. Thus far, I’m happy with the purchase and got them in black, pink and turquoise.

**NOTE Their US and European sizing is usually very off, so I always go by the Japanese size which is based on centimeters instead. I’ve found this to be the most accurate.

When buying from Chinese shoe-makers be careful of size and if possible, use the Japanese size (as it's based on centimeters). The left is my Long Tall Sally size of 45. (Accurate). On the Chinese shoes however, my size was listed as 48.

I got a pair of these as well in white patent, and they were both cute and comfortable.

If you are looking for nice looking classy patent flats, Zhong-2020 sells them in white, pink, black and red as well.

I reeeeeeally wanted a pair of red patent ballet flats, and still haven’t given up on finding them. Failing that however, I may go with their red patent flats as I already own the white ones and they fit well and are comfortable.

All of these venders also ship internationally as well.

LONG TALL SALLY

Another fantastic source for large-size women’s shoes (and especially ballet flats!) is Long Tall Sally out of the UK.

They carry a wide variety of women’s clothing for the taller and larger frame, but also carry shoes up to a UK size 13! They have an entire section of their site dedicated completely just to Ballet Flats and upon finding their site I couldn’t help but order a few pairs.

The quality of the shoes from this retailer are top-notch, the leather used is incredibly soft and subtle. They even carry a wide assortment of extra wides as well. They also ship internationally. I was super happy to find this shop, got two pairs and have been super happy with both. They are soooo soft and comfortable. The only issue that I had was that the white ones I ordered were actually off-white. They looked that way in the picture, so it wasn't exactly false advertising; but be sure to go by the image in the picture when ordering :)

PLEASER

Much like Long Tall Sally's Ballet Flats, Pleaser's Anna ballet flats are available in sizes up to a US women's 16 and come in 4 different options. Black matte, black patent, silver and pink patent.

Another surpising place that I’ve found to get great large sized ballet flats is Pleaser Shoes. While most of the selection at Pleaser seems to be more for the stripper or shoe fetishist type, suprisingly they did have a little selection of casual flat women's shoes as well. Much like Long Tall Sally and EBay, they also ship internationally, and I had no problem getting them in Japan. While all of the makers I mentioned so far offer shoes that are comfortable, the Pleaser shoes have the most square and shallowest toe box if you like that aesthetically.

(In the picture at the top of this blog, they are the two pairs on the left).

In contrast with the Long Tall Sally shoes the leather is a bit harder, but not to a degree that compromises the comfort of them. I can still comfortably wear them all day.

The pleasure shoes are the only ones that came in a box, and they also come with a really cute little shoe bag as well. It's a nice touch.

Out of the three of them, the pleaser shoes are the best packaged, and only ones that actually comes with a box (if that’s important you). They also come with a really cute bag carrying case which I think is a super nice touch.

CONCLUSION

While all three of these sources are great places to get comfortble large-sized ballet flats, the difference really comes down to the aesthetic and the colors you are looking for.

All three of them come in sizes up to 30cm+ and all three are reasonably comfortable. The Chinese makers on EBay have a great variety of colors to choose from, but the Long Tall Sally ones are a bit softer and I think more stylish.

Pleaser’s ballet flats have the widest toe box making them easier for all day comfort but that also changes the aesthetic of the shoe. The only issue that I actually had with all three of them was the fact that once you get into the larger sizes, no one makes half-sizes anymore, so I always have to go a half-size up. This meant always having to get and use heel pads so they stay on as I walk. Most shoe pads are only around 100yen though (about $1) for a pair, so that’s a minor complaint.

Hope this helps you in your quest to stay cute! Until the next time, my dears🥰🥰
